Set Up Your GFI Notify Power Monitoring & Alert System

Step 1 of 3: Configure Your Smart Plugs with the
GFI Notify App

A. SET UP YOUR SMART-PLUGS

With the GFI Notify App purchase, your order includes TWO FREE smart-plugs, in addition to any other smart-plugs you may have purchased from us. When you receive your package, follow the instructions that come with the plugs to install them. This will include downloading the GFI Notify app from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Note: you can use the QR codes on the instruction sheet for your type of cell phone instead of searching for the app. The smart plug can be set up in an electrical outlet near your wifi router. It will be placed at the final destination later.

B. SET UP ADDITIONAL SMARTPLUGS

To install additional GFI Notify smartplugs, the procedure is essentially the same as for the first smartplug. Just open the GFI Notify App on your cellphone and tap on the “+” in the upper right corner. Then just follow the step-by-step instructions. Additional monitored GFI Notify smartplugs can be used with GFI Notify software for any circuit you want to monitor.

Step 2: Setting Up GFI Notifications

SETTING UP GFI NOTIFICATIONS

Please do not take these steps until you have completed the above step.

On your computer, click on LOGIN. Choose the GFI Notify login with the round GFI Notify smartplug. Enter the User Name and Password showing on the top of the sheet that came with the smartplugs. Follow the directions on the same sheet as your Username and Password or view this instructional video.

Step 3: Test Your Devices!

Now Let's Test The Process!

To test the entire process, physically remove one smartplug from the electrical outlet. You should get a power loss notification within 4-6 minutes (which is the default interval). You can change that interval later. Wait until you receive a notification.

Now, plug that same device back into the electrical outlet. Generally, a power restored notification should appear in about 3.5 minutes.

Finally, plug the monitored smartplugs into their destination circuits. Remember that the appliance does not need to be plugged into the smartplug itself. The smartplug can be plugged into any open outlet on the same circuit. Do a final test at the destination location to make sure that your wifi signal strength is sufficient. Your system is ready to go at this point!

We recommend that you do similar testing about every 3 months.
